Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the Executive Director and Board of Directors, create strategic plans for all development efforts, including
    major gift solicitation, fundraising events, cultivation of corporate charitable funds and sponsorships.
  • Develop, manage and continually evaluate systems, processes and protocols around donor stewardship.
  • Plan and execute the agency's annual fundraising events (Gala & Pet Parade), meeting both income and public awareness goals.
  • Build awareness around our mission in the larger community.
  • Research grant opportunities and develop and draft proposals for Federal, foundation, and corporate grants, with support from the Executive Director and Associate Director.
  • Develop and oversee the individual giving strategy by researching, identifying and cultivating existing and potential donors.
  • Create annual revenue projections with the Executive Director, and develop and implement fundraising goals, strategies, and activities to achieve revenue goals.
  • Analyze and report on trends regarding individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director and the Marketing Committee to create promotional materials designed to enhance fundraising efforts, build relationships with donors, and increase visibility for L.I. Against Domestic Violence.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and comprehensive monitoring and reporting of contributions, income, expenses and grants.
  • Recruit and manage a volunteer team to assist with fundraising goals and activities.
  • Coordinate and oversee volunteer efforts and donations of goods and services.
  • Organize and track all aspects of donor and grant management, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, deadlines, and recognition.
  • Create content, write, and edit external communications for social media, solicitation letters, and other pieces as needed.
  • Enthusiastically engaging staff, volunteers and board in development strategies providing training, leadership and support as necessary.
  • Cultivate organizational growth.

 

  • A minimum of 5 years of fundraising experience and demonstrated success raising funds for growing nonprofit organizations; experience growing the individual donor base of an organization.
  • Strong passion for non for profit development and L.I. Against Domestic Violence’s mission.
  • Substantial experience implementing fundraising plans and cultivating relationships for all funding streams, including high net worth individuals, foundations, events and corporations.
  • Strong work ethic; ability to lead by example and work effectively in a start-up, results-oriented environment.
  • Flexibility with schedule to include; nights and weekends where needed to accomplish goals and attend events.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills; demonstrated ability to conceptualize and describe funding needs in a way that is compelling to donors and prospects.
  • Demonstrated strategic and analytical skills combined with a flexible and entrepreneurial spirit and ability to execute within a resource-constrained environment.
  • Ability to make decisions independently combined with an ability to work collaboratively.
  • Capability to thrive and take initiative in a success-driven environment with a commitment to a high standard of excellence, responsibility and accountability.
  1. Answer all incoming calls and re-route calls to appropriate staff person.
  2. Responsible for typing, filing, and mailings as assigned by the Executive Assistant and/or FT Receptionist.
  3. Provide clerical duties for staff.
  4. Maintain pleasant and professional attitude and appearance.
  5. Complete hotline training program and act as back-up when the need arise.
  6. Assist Supervisor and other staff when requested.
  7. Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor
  8. Maintain policies and protocols as indicated by supervisor, funders and the Organization,
  9. Attend staff meetings and required training sessions as directed.
  10. Assist with fundraising and development; this includes participation at events.

NOTE: Since the primary purpose of LIADV is to serve clients, it may at times be necessary to modify, redesign or possibly eliminate job functions in order to best serve client's needs within the constraints of available resources. In cases such as these, every effort will be made to accomplish changes as equitably as possible. Staff shall be given two weeks’ notice of proposed revisions.
