If you're feeling anything like the team here at LIADV,

we're hoping for holiday cheer to show up early in 2020!

First, let us start by saying we hope you, your family, and friends are staying safe and healthy. We can't wait for some holiday cheer and like you, would all like to feel a little "normal".
Despite the difficulty of the last few months, we remain gratified by the generosity of the community response and thankful for the essential workers, including L.I. Against Domestic Violence staff who demonstrate compassion and heroism every day. For over forty-four years, we have supported survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault to find safety and healing. L.I. Against Domestic is a well-respected not-for-profit on the forefront of innovation and quality provision of care. Equity, inclusion, creativity and collaboration are the hallmarks of our services.  Our proven track record has supported 4,100 individuals in 2020 to date.

Over the past several months, the need for our services has increased across our programs by as much as 50%.

Our hotline staff is consistently answering over 500 calls a month compared to an average of 250 per month in 2019.

We are writing today to request your support not only for those we already serve but for the thousands that will need our assistance in 2021

*Our Advocacy Department has assisted survivors in obtaining 550 Orders of Protection,
*985 survivors have received the services of our advocates in the Suffolk County Police precincts
*Safe Harbor Shelter has been a safe haven to 215 adults and children, and our
*Counseling Department has provided over 1,600 counseling sessions to adult and children survivors.
The increased demand comes at the same time of increased expenses and budget cuts.
The expenses related to the COVID response have stretched the budget further than anyone could have anticipated. Additionally, we canceled our in-person fundraising events, leaving a large gap in our funding.
You can help fill that gap and secure services for thousands of survivors.
The holidays are a time for giving, sharing love, and letting the most important people in your life know how much you care. We thank you for your support and for showing survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault that you care!

Consider making your contribution today to ensure that no hotline call goes unanswered, no request for shelter is turned away

and no one walks a path to healing alone.

Together with our donors, we have done some powerful work in our community this year.
