Donate your time
and energy to combat
domestic violence

There are many ways you can devote your time to making a difference for your neighbors. Rewarding volunteer opportunities at L.I. Against Domestic Violence include:

Hotline counselors – Do you have at least one four-hour shift per week, to take place after 5pm weekdays or any time on weekends, to make a difference? Extensive training is provided to all volunteers who work on the hotline.

Education – Represent LIADV at health fairs and fundraising activities, assist with educational presentations to community groups, display clothesline project and assist at educational events.

Office assistant – Answer phones, help with mailings and filing.

Development – Assist in grant research, event planning, grassroots fundraising, and telephone and in-person follow ups, as well as creative projects.

Governing Board members – Individuals who have demonstrated a strong to LIADV and bring particular skills and expertise to enhance the governance, fiscal responsibility, fundraising, and policy matters of the Board may be invited to join. Must attend monthly meetings and serve on committees.

Student internships – You will work in all areas of LIADV to gain a multidisciplinary, hands-on experience.

Volunteer as an
Individual

All volunteers are asked to make a 6 month/4 hours per week commitment.

A half-day training session is required at the inception of volunteering. More in-depth training is required for certain departments.

Opportunities are also available for groups of volunteers or organizations willing to give their time.
